Bring Your Own Cloud!

Bring your own device or commonly people said as, BYOD. That term was very popular few years ago that refers to the policy that employee/student can bring their laptop or any devices to their workplace and use that device to access company/school information and application. What do you think about this term now? It is still commonly used?

Now, every technology moving to cloud based. Few years ago maybe we never imagine if we can do web or graphic design using our browser, but now it is a common practice to use online apps for make a website template. Maybe some of you thinking, "Hey, isn't it same that we still use our laptop to do design? It is just moving the work place from the normal apps to our browser". NOPE, it's totally different. When you use internet application to do stuff you don't need to install the software (means more free space in your harddisk) and configure it (less headache from change environment variable, or etc). You just access the website and voila~ you can design just using browser.

So, back to BYOD, when you think of it, bring your devices just to access the information or application at certain places? That is just very 2012-ish, so old school! Now, even some company permitted their employees to work from home and access all what they need for working from the company cloud server. Maybe the right term for now is Bring Your Own Cloud! Err... But can you really bring cloud? No.. i guess.

For cloud era like this, a must-have skill if you want to work at information and technology field is platform for building a web application. Learn Java EE, ASP.net, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python or learn other platform that can be used for build web application. Maybe for some people they will think like "Java just for building desktop apps, not for web. For building a website i need to learn PHP!". If you are thinking like that, maybe you should check this link. Twitter not built by PHP, they using Java for one of their core system. Youtube not built by PHP, they use Python and Java. But still, it doesn't matter what platform that you use, with a little bit mastery every platform can be use to build great web application.

So, the last words, hone your skills for web development and build great start-up in the future! Cheers~
